Nope! Most of our customers aren't home during visits. As long as we can access your HVAC unit (garage code, unlocked utility closet, etc.), we'll take care of everything and text you a photo of the new filter installed. If your unit is inside the home, we'll coordinate a time that works for you.
That's exactly what your first visit is for. We'll identify your filter size, note the HVAC model, check the system's condition, and set up your profile so every future visit is seamless. You don't need to know anything going in.
Companies like Second Nature or FilterTime ship you a box. You still have to find your HVAC unit, remove the old filter, install the new one, and dispose of the old one. Most people don't do it on time — if they do it at all. FilterCare handles everything. We bring the filter, install it, check your system, and leave. You do nothing.
Monthly subscribers can cancel anytime with no penalty — your service ends at the end of your current billing period. Annual subscribers are committed for the year but save $36 compared to monthly and lock in the founding rate forever. There are no setup fees, no hidden charges, and no cancellation fees.
It depends on your filter. Standard 1″ filters need changing every 2–3 months, so you'd get 4 visits per year. Thicker 4–5″ media filters last 6–12 months, so you'd get 2 visits per year. Homes with pets or allergies may benefit from more frequent changes. We determine the right schedule on your first visit based on your specific HVAC unit, filter type, and household — and the price is the same regardless of how many visits you need.
We use MERV 8 pleated filters as our standard — they're the best balance of filtration and airflow for most homes. Annual plan subscribers get a free upgrade to MERV 11, which captures finer particles like pet dander and allergens. We can accommodate any filter size, including custom sizes for unusual HVAC units.
Each visit takes about 10–15 minutes. We replace your air filter, visually inspect your HVAC system for any obvious issues (unusual sounds, condensation, dirty coils), and leave you a brief checklist noting what we saw. If we spot something that needs professional attention, we'll let you know — but we never upsell you on repairs. That's not what we do.
